The Grand Metropolitan Companies are a portfolio of luxury brands and companies assembled from around the globe. The Group maintains assets in several varied exclusive industries including diamonds, jewelry, liquor, tobacco, fashion, golf and nightlife.
The lineage of The Group dates back to Brittany, France in the Middle Ages. The use of the Grand Metropolitan name began in the 1950s. Starting as a tiny jewelry shop handcrafting diamonds and precious metals into heirlooms for local socialites, the company evolved into a chain of private jewelers that create fine jewelry for celebrities, diplomats, and royalty, including family members of Françios Maurice Adrien Marie Mitterrand, former president of France.
Since 2000, The Group has grown its brands to include liquor, tobacco, perfume and shoes. Today, operations and fine luxury products are being drawn from around the world. The Group operates its North American operations from Beverly Hills, Calif. USA.
